Last year I went to exhibition in Tallinn, Estonia, dedicated to Banksy art. It felt nice to buy a mug an postcard with his art. I knew that it's not original, but I wanted to have something that reminds me of that exhibition. I liked it! It was informative, interactive and very interesting. But after reading your blog now I'm concerned if this was right. I just haven't been in Bristol or London yet.
I remember how excited you were about the Banksy exhibition from your Instagram stories last year! I hate to be the one to curb that enthusiasm, but it’s worth checking what Banksy himself has said—he’s clearly not on board. He’s been very outspoken about how these shows are run by people cashing in on his name and doing real harm to the scene.
On a brighter note: why not come along on my next street art trip to London? 😊 I’ll be there from August 8 to 12, exploring the city’s street art—and hopefully also presenting my London street art book (though the trip is happening no matter what, even if the book isn’t ready in time).
